After dropping Beth off at the airport, saying our emotional good byes, good luck, be good, and I love yous, we did what we do every time Beth goes to Africa... we go to my parents house. No one is home of course, it is the middle of the day in the middle of a work week. We still go and kill some time so we can meet Grammy for lunch. Upon arriving at 319 (that is what us thugs call my parents house) we head directly to the garage so Mason can show me something, that something ended up being absolutely nothing he just wanted to go out and play. We are out there for maybe 5 minutes when the Crazy Mike headphones come on and Mason walks around the garage aimlessly, do the the fact is can not hear anything Madison or I are saying or screaming at him. Mason finds a "Bomb Pop" duster that is probably older than I am and starts dusting random things, all the while Madison has found a vacuum and is pushing it around and singing a mix of Jesus Loves Me and Let it Go.
We finally got the garage all clean and headed to the basement to wreck havoc down there. The kids find a huge box full of K'Nex that were mine and my brothers growing up. 3 of the hugh roller coaster sets to be exact. All organized nicely in baggies by color and part. Madison is down there no longer than a few minutes and she has almost all the baggies emptied into a huge pile. I am talking close to 1000 pieces if not more, all jumbled up. Now I was half tempted to leave the mess for my dad to clean up while he watches his 7 hours of Judge Judy he records each day, but I choose to take the higher road. From watching Mary Poppins I have learned to make picking up a game, and thought it would be good practice for Madison to work on hand/eye and colors. It worked, but the whole time Mason is stating that he is helping but didn't make the mess and would never do such a thing. (I am holding that comment in my back pocket the next time we play with Lego's!) We eventually got it all cleaned up, did some running around and came back home to lay down for naps.
The 3 of us ended up on the couch watching the first game of the World Cup, Mason on one end of the couch Madison on the other and me in the middle. We are sitting there quietly when Mason stand up, rips his pearl snap button down shirt open and sits back down. I look over at him as asked what that was about... and with the straightest face and as serious as he can be he looks back at me and says "WHAT?!?!? Men wear their shirts like this, with their chest showing. Alot if men do it dad. So do the Indians!" I was perplexed to the turn of events and just sat there quietly, which the silence gave Mason the chance to push the conversation more "Girls like it, don't they Madison? (Who gave a look and rolled her eyes) Dad you can do it to just put on a shirt like this" The conversation ended with that and we continued to watch soccer.
We were only about 5 hours into the 3 Amigos 2014 and they both already had me wondering what trouble and adventures we would be getting into... I would say a plethora!
