Schafers in America - 6/16/14 Pool 'n it in Mulvegas

So today was our first Monday with Beth in Uganda.  A week from today she begins her more than 24 hour journey back state side.  I believe today they went to an island to do some work.  They took a boat.  A boat floats on water.  (Stick with me I am seagwaying) The kids like to play in the water...

So after work I went and picked up the kids and we talked about going to the Mulvane pool.  It was quite warm today, but also very windy, so we all agreed to hurry home and find all of our pool gear.  Loaded up in the car and headed our way.  Walked up to the counter and told them 3, and asked if they took debit cards.... they don't.  Mason looked at me very serious and scolded me that he told me I am the adult and was supposed to have money.  He told me before we left the house to grab all of my money.  Next time I will listen to him.

Once we got settled and put our life jackets on (the kids not me, I think it is my year to finally cut the cord and not rely on the pfd.) Mason ran straight in the water and was ready to have a good time.  He was a little timid at first, not trusting himself to maneuver in the water.  But it did not take long and he was swimming all around and even jumping into the water on his own.

Madison still have to find her dare devil side at the pool.  She has it everywhere else, but I had to hold her, and drag her around the pool.  She would not let go of me.  Do not get me wrong I am more than fine with her needing me and not wanting to let go I will not have that forever so I am cherishing it while it lasts.

We swam for a good 45 minutes then headed home for dinner and to catch the last 10 minutes of the US v. Ghana game.  Mason finally understood why I kept yelling "I BELIEVE THAT WE CAN WIN" when the crowd was chanting it at the end of the game.  He has been chanting it every time I said it.  We had a good dinner, and then watched some college world series.  Mason asks every game who we are cheering for.  He only roots for the team that is winning which cracks me up.

One final thought/funny that I forgot to right about last night.  When we were at Uncle Marc's Grandpa told Mason that his mom, grandpa's daughter is part indian.  Mason just kind of laughed and went off to play somemore.  Well on the drive home it finally sunk in that if Mom is part indian then Madison and him must be too.  I told him that he was right.  Madison corrected him and told him that she is Madison not an indian.  An agument almost started between them, both wanting to be right.  Mason was quiet for awhile and I looked back and him to see that he was very deep in thought, trying to process his heritage and how being a ginger indian who bats left changes his outlook on life.  He then asks me that since mom is part indian that makes me part indian becasue I married her.  We had a very deep talk and I tried to expalin blood family and family by law.  He was not having it, so our conversation ended that I am part indian as well... throught association which makes him and Madison more indian.  It is very good logic for a 5 year old.  Now I am waiting for my check!
