Schafers in America - 6/22/2014 The Countdown to Tuesday Night

It is a good thing that Beth will be back in less than 48 hours!  I think the kids are starting to get alittle tired of me.  They need some motherly love.  It was a good day but I can really tell they are ready for mommy to be home.  M&m are starting to get alittle emotional a bit easier, and are starting to bother each other a bit more instead of working together as a team.

We had another eventful day, church in the morning , and pool in the afternoon.  Both kids did great again, and some of their friends were there so they had even more fun and found some more courage.  At one point Madison went rouge on me and swam over to the deep end.  (Lets face it to a 4 year old almost the whole pool is the deep end).  I could not convince them to jump in, but they did just about every other thing they could in the water including dunking their heads under the water.  Mason and I did work for about 5 minutes on swimming without the life jacket.  He did pretty well, but was getting frustrated so we went back to pfd and off he went again to play.  The Mulvane pool has a big slide, that Mason has wanted to go on since out first trip to the pool.  Like many slides and parks you have to be a certain height, which Mason is not tall enough... yet.  But every time we walk in he measures himself to see how much he has grown.  He has not hit a growth spurt in the last week and a half...  as much as he is trying to will himself.  I have a feeling that once he is tall enough he may not actually go down.  It is pretty high.  We will cross that bridge when we get there.

After the pool we came home for the highlight of our day, USA Soccer.  The first half was pretty tense.  The kids both sat and watched the game very well.  1 minute before the USA scored in the second half Madison called Mason and I over for a all hands in so we could count to 3 then yell USA.  We did it, and then the US scored!  Once the US scored again we were dancing around the living room.  These kids are very patriotic.  Then with :30 left Portugal scored to equalize... the dancing stopped and Mason just looked over at me and said "Dad?  What just happened?  What does that mean?"  It meant that no matter how much we chanted "I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!" all that will happen is a tie.

With heavy hearts, tear stained faces, but heads held high we went outside for an evening bike ride.  Played outside for a bit longer than came in for showers and bed.

Like I said at the beginning less than 48 hours before Beth gets home, but who is counting...
