The Pick up Day

As many of you know yesterday was the day the kids and I had been counting down to since 10 am Sept 21.... the day mommy comes home.

As a final "treat" to the kids, I let them sleep in the bed with me Monday night, and I kept them up until 9:30 thinking they would sleep in some, allowing Dada to sleep in some as well.  I was wrong.  Mas woke up at 6:50, and wanted me to go out in the living room and lay with him on the couch as we watched tv.  Madi woke up an hour later, I guess she got the memo, Mas did not.

The morning was quite uneventful, they watched the Cat in the Hat movie twice, and played with their toys, while I finished some miscellaneous cleaning and tidying up.  Madi and i did the last small load of laundry so when Beth got home it was all hers.  We ate an early lunch, 10:30, to prepare ourselves for an early dinner.  I tried several different ways to get them to go to take their naps, nothing was really working, they were wired for mommy's return.  They ended up laying on the couch watching tv, and every once in awhile would start to doze off before the other one would make a comment and wake the other up.   Such is life.

At about 1:30, after I dis-bearded, we loaded up in the car to make our trek to west ICT.  The flight did not come in until 3:30 so we had some time to kill, and since the kids were good almost the entire time Beth was gone, I took them out to see Uncle Andrew at All Star.  Nothing is better then having a connection at a place like that to get me free tokens.  We played there for about 45 minutes, at a hot dog that Uncle Andy cooked for us, and thanked him for the good time.  For the record, the best time to go to a place like that is early afternoon on a Tuesday.... It was empty with the exception of a few golf guys on the driving range.

When we got to the airport, we met Grammy inside who was already there, and the kids ran around playing with O. Ram.  Then the moment we were waiting for happened....  It was like in a movie, the song Dream Weaver came on in my head, the outside of my vision got cloudy, and everyone was walking in slow motion.  Beth was walking down the tunnel!  Mas and Madi were to busy messing with a chair to see her at first.  But when we pointed she was walking up to us, they both went frozen, and didn't know what to do, I think their brains were telling them to run, but they couldn't move.  The eventually ran to her and Madi would not stop giving her hugs.  After the reunion we retreated to the baggage claim, where Mas was more interested in watching where the bags went AFTER no one picked them up.  He just stood over at the end of the belt, and every time a bag would go through he would duck down and see if he could see farther back in there.

After getting her bags and saying goodbye to her UG team, we headed to the car, and got ready to fill our ears with UG stories, our stomachs with TX Roadhouse, and our hearts with love.  Mommy told us a few stories, we told her some stories.  It IS good to have her back.

We finished the night by watching The Cat in the Hat, because Mas had told her earlier that she had to watch it with him.  And then went to bed, all four of us were quite tired.  this trip took a lot out of us all!

(Side Note)

I am pretty sure I could put on Driving Miss Daisy, and Mas would want to watch that endlessly.  I don't know if he cares about the plot of the movies or the characters, or if that fact that something new is on the tv that he has not seen 1000 times.
